If you don't have one already, get a gmail account (its free and everything)
Then go to the "my account" page -the link is on the top left.
On that page, theres a bunch of headings, one says "try something new." Click "more"
On the left, it says "Communicate, show & share" and from there you can click "blogger"
Thats how to get to it if you lose the link, but I'll give you the link so its easier: https://www.blogger.com/start?hl=en&pli=…
And if you don't like this one, you can get them from basically any email account I think (I'm quite sure yahoo has them) and there are plenty of other blogging sites, just google them. I just gave this one because I know people who use it and say its very easy and user friendly.

yeah, google makes it really easy to start a blog through your gmail account.<br

If you were a liberal, i'd say go to dailykos.com (you'd have to be a crazy left winger though) and if you are a conservative, go to townhall.com (If you lean right a little, townhall would be good too, there's a good mixture of libertarians, social conservatives and independents who lean right).

you say you are independent so i’d just start a blog on google blogs but you would some how need to market it so people read it.
