You really can become a blogger today!

I am a blogger that has tried many different things. Since I have had lots of “experience” with other blogging platforms I wanted to talk about them. I have used Blogger, WordPress.com and now .org, Moveable Type, and Weebly. All of them have different features and different cost/benefits to analyze. The major plus to using these platforms is there cost, absolutely nothing.

Part of the challenge with choosing a blog platform like Blogger, WordPress, etc. is knowing what you want to do with your blog before you start it. Knowing what your blog will be about, how much time you will put into it and how custom you want to make it will help you select your choice. The best option is using an “internal” blogging platform like WordPress.org to blog on your own domain name (www.”yourdomainname”.com) and using your own templates. The “internal” blogging option can be more difficult for new users and is not free. You will need to buy the domain name (usually around $9, I recommend Namecheap) and host the website using a web host, I recommend HostGator (its a way to store your blog online and costs around $6-25/month).

How do I become a blogger

Remember there are 2 options:

  1. a free option (Blogger, WordPress.com, Weebly) called “external”
  2. one costing money “internal”, but allows for the most personal or custom blog

I will explain both of these options in far more detail in additional posts. Why you would use one option or the other and how to get started. Also if you are currently a blogger, how to build your traffic and increase your income through promotion, monetization and more.
